We completed Week 6, Day 1 of the Couch to 5K training program this morning. This entailed a 5 min run, 3 min walk, 8 min run, 3 min walk, and 5 min run. It seemed like a piece of cake compared to Day 3 of Week 5 which was a straight 20 min run. I can't say enough good things about this program, though, because it has truly taken us from barely being able to run 30 seconds straight to running for 20 minutes at a time in 5 weeks.
I felt pretty good on today's run and even left the hubby in the dust :-).

Hello! Welcome to my journey toward becoming a runner.
My husband and I are about to start Week 5 of the Couch to 5K program. Neither of us have ever been runnners but we are finding this program very effective. Soon, I plan to sign both of us up for a 5K in October to provide even more motivation to continue on this newfound running path.
We started this journey for several reasons. It provided us an opportunity to do an activity together with the added health benefits of potential weight loss and a definite increase in cardiovascular fitness.
We've got two young kids and both work full-time jobs so it is often hard to find the time to do things together.
I hope to use this blog as another motivating step in this journey. I'm hoping to continue running well beyond this 5K program. I'm not sure if my husband feels the same way but I'm going to work on making him a runner too :-)
